past the point of love

told you so

A dark cloud was coming up. It was hot and steamy out. Noah was already in a sweat. he couldn’t remember the last time he was like this. This just wasn’t natural. He squinted hard as he watched the clouds come over the sun. It didn’t help much. He felt he’d dressed for winter now as he headed past the high school toward the old towne area. He didn’t even know where he was going. “Any luck?” He heard from Lex on his cell. “Hell no.” He squinted. “Wish you were here.” But he really didn’t mean it. She didn’t see sunlight even with a storm brewing. She stayed indoors. Lex swore she was a vampire, or was it she was afraid of them. “I can’t believe you,” Noah then said. “I’m out here with a possibly hail storm over head, and you, you hide in your basement.” “Oh yeah, there’s a tornado warning too.” “Shut up.” Noah snapped back. “No, I mean it.” “Like we’d have one.” Noah rolled his eyes at that as he headed past the middle school and down past the police station. He wondered if Josie’s Dad was still there. Noah doubted he was even heading in the right direction that Josie would go, but he felt he had to. Hoping he might get lucky. He just might. “We’re due one. A big one, buster. So you were warned.” Lex told him. “Where do you come up with this shit.” Noah looked at the sky and wondered how much time he had before the storm hit. “I have five televisions going at once. Two of them are on Dish TV.” She explained. “You better find a place to get out of this, you know.” “All right?” Who was she? He thought, his mother? Just then a big drop of rain hit the top of his forehead. Five seconds later it was pouring. Noah ran for cover. Luckily, he found a door open in an old vacant building. He stood there shivering. Possibly steam was coming off of him. He looked in his messanger’s bag to see if Josie’s book size laptop was OK. Noah breathed a sigh of relief.
