past the point of love

dunno if I like you that way

Noah couldn’t stop sneezing as he stood there in the stairwell of the old building. He thought he heard someone calling out. He sneezed. It must have been nothing. He listened as he watched the dust settle around his feet. Just before he heard another yell, there he went again with his sneezing fit. He knew then he wasn’t meant for these conditions. He was going to Lex’s. But when he looked up he saw Josie. He blinked. “Sweet Jesus!” He smiled running up the steps as quick as he could. “I’ve been looking all over for you!” She didn’t say anything though, and he thought for a second she might be an aparation of some sort but then the grabbed her shoulders and hugged her. “Good news!” He looked straight into her dilated eyes. “You’re Dad’s not dead.” “What?” She looked at him as if she didn’t know him. “You’re Dad? Good old daddy who broke your bedroom door down. That one. He’s in jail.” “In jail?” She didn’t seem to believe him. “Honest to God. Alive and well.” Noah nodded as he looked around the room. “What have you been doing, Josie?” “Jonah was here.” She shrugged. “Jonah?” So thats why the sweet smell of ganja filled the room. He didn’t want to come to any conclusions thinking his brother had had his way with her. “What did you do with him?” “Nothing really.” She told him. “Nothing at all?” Noah squinted. “He’s not that bad.” “Yeah, he talks some good shit when he wants to and then he can be a fuck’n ass wipe.” Noah stepped away from her then. “I got your notebook,” he then said. “And your cell. I can’t believe you left with neither of them.” “God, I can’t believe you remembered to do that for me.” She smiled then. “Well, I’m looking out for you.” He pulled out Hostess cupcakes for her then. Figuring she might need a sugar fix now. “OH MY GAWD! I LOVE YOU!” She couldn’t open the package fast enough to stuff her face with the pretty chocolate. “Do you have anymore?” She talked with her mouth full. “Yeah, you’re really a terrific girl. I think we should get married.” He snidely remarked reaching for another one in his coat pocket. “Listen, we need to get out of here before this storm comes.” He got out his cell then and direct dialed Lex. “What about Jonah?” Josie looked at him blankly with chocolate dripping down her chin. “We don’t need him.” Noah squinted. Finally Lex answered. “Why aren’t you here aleady?” He yelled into the phone. “If we mean anything to you? Get your butt down here, now!” “Is she coming?” Josie looked as if they couldn’t get out of this without Lex. “Doubt it.” He handed her his cell. Maybe Josie could talk her into it.
