past the point of love

in a million years

Lex was unsure what she was doing. Really, she felt naked to be outside even if she was in her black skinny jeans and black tunic with the big scull and cross bone. Honestly, what was she thinking? She was out of her comfort zone, but she’d heard Josie’s cry for help and how they needed her. Sirens were wailing about the bad weather coming. It did look ugly out. She grabbed her laptop and jacket and was on her way in her little Silver FIT. It was actually her mother’s but she always drove it. It was practically hers. It was just too small for her mother to enjoy driving. She pushed in her Mount Sims CD and immediately, the electronic music put her in a good mood. She could do this. She would do this. She would just zoom over and get them and they’d be right back here in no time. So she took the back streets toward old towne, and everything was fine until she got to a red light. “Shit.” She said under her breath. There was no traffic, but Jonah was standing there, and he was looking at her. Her doors were locked. She waited. Damn, she thought, had to be the longest light in town. Next thing she looked over, and he was at the window of the passenger side, tapping on the window. She went into panic mode and some how hoping to assure the doors were locked, she accidentally unlocked them, and he was in. This was not suppose to happen. She wanted to speed away, but there he was just passing through, she guessed. “WHAT DO YOU WANT!” She squinted hard. “A ride, what do you think?” He shrugged. She wanted to scream, but she couldn’t she drove when the light turned green. She was so out of her element. Why hadn’t she stayed home? “Its looking pretty ugly out there.” He pondered at the black and green clouds. Lightening flashing. She kept her eye on the road. Thinking the entire time she was a stupid idiot. This was why she never went outside. This was why she stayed home. She would have to…there she went looking at him. It was long look. “HEY! WATCH IT!” Jonah grabbed the wheel. “YOU TRYING TO GET US KILLED!” He swerved so they missed a truck. Lex was in a sweat. She never sweat. She was shaking now as she held on to the wheel.Jonah drew in a breath and turned the air conditioning on cool. “Look, I have to get Josie and Noah.” She breathed. “All right!” “Really? No shit? I was looking for my brother.” He said very casually. “You know, we’d hate for him to get too far from home.” “Yeah, like I believe that.” She wouldn’t look at him. She might lose it. Like he said, she might get them both killed. She thought she could have the affect on guys. She looked up in the review mirror. Did she see a funnel cloud in the bleak sky? It looked like the devil’s tail. Whrilling and ire and..and coming this way.
