past the point of love

anywhere else

“Do you see what I see!” Noah looked back at the front window and saw the majestic scene. Something was happening. Something was actually blowing in the wind. Possibly parts of houses. “Come on!” He took Josie’s hand and they ran toward the stair well. There went the car blasting its car horn. But Josie almost tripped. She was a bit woozy and Noah had to grab both sides of her as they made there way down to the ground level. He kicked open the door and they ran in to the whipping wind toward Lex’s car. “Well, its about time,” Lex looked back at them while Jonah was sliding under her to get into the driver’s side. Lex got her foot stuck as she made her way to the passenger’s side. “What’s he doing here?” Noah grimaced as soon as he saw his brother. No one answered. Jonah just drove. He sped right through the toll booth. No one was there anyway to take any money and he hurried over the bridge. “Are you sure this is the safest route to take?” Noah winced. “We have no choice,” Lex looked at him. “There’s a tornado behind us.” Dust was kicking in now and for a moment Jonah was sure the tornado was chasing them. Jonah kept driving faster. Finally they were across the river and Jonah took to the interstate then. Due north. “What in the hell are you doing, Jonah?” Noah sighed. “Getting the hell out of here, what do you think!” Jonah kept his eyes on the road and was booking up the interstate. “Shouldn’t we discuss this.” He had his arm around Josie, and he jerked out some red liquorish out of his messenger bag. “Twizzler?” He handed it to Josie. She took it as if it might be a pretty thing to eat. Lex wanted one too. “Lex, get on your seat belt, please.” Noah closed his eyes wishing he were anywhere, but here.
